Definition: CSS is an acronym for Cascading Style Sheet - and is a convention used in web deisgn, whereby rather than formatting each page within the site (e.g. make all the headings a certain size and colour) - you create a single Style Sheet (e.g. which says all the Headings are Ariel font 16, Blue) - which then cascades through the site applying the chosen formatting to all the Headings it can find. It is then very easy to update an entire site, by changing one style sheet, rather than all the pages within the website
Use in Education: One of the main advantages is from an accessibility point of view - if a student has a certain requirement (e.g. they need their text to be bigger and a certain colour) - they can have their computer set up so as to over-ride the websites styles with their own styles.
Link to Example: The TechDis User Preferances Toolbar - picks up CSS sheets, and makes it easy for a user to format a website - this can be beneficial for all users, not just those with disabilites.
